I rented the UFC Pay Per View tonight because my favorite UFC fighter, Chuck Liddell, was on the fight card.  He’s getting old for the sport (almost 39), but he’s been in pretty good shape and looked great in his last fight.  However, tonight, he just didn’t have the tools to win and got caught with a monstrous right hand that knocked him out cold.  I know it’s hard for athletes to hang the gloves up so to speak, but I think the time has come for Chuck.  He’s been 1 punch knocked out now 2 times in the last year or so after never being close to knocked out in his career.  No longer is he quick enough to avoid the major blows and land his own.  Like all fighters, they are still skilled and have the mental ability, but their bodies do not respond at the same quickness.  Fighting people with similar skill, but younger, usually results in outcomes like Chuck had tonight.  I hope he decides to hang it up and go out with dignity rather than continue along the path he is on.
