I’m not a huge fan of the Oscars but I do watch it every year to some extent. I usually watch just so I can stay tuned in to what all the nonsense is all about because rarely do I watch any of the so-called Oscar worthy type films. The show isn’t over as I write this, but was Slumdog Millionaire really that good of a movie? I think sometimes the voters just simply want to be in the “know” and vote for something that isn’t mainstream. Oh well, my wife said it best, at least Milk didn’t win all the awards…
My question is this… Why can Hugh Jackman, an actor, sing live time and again on the Oscar stage and Beyonce, a multi-million album selling recording artist, lip sync? Huh? Uh, if you’re a singer, sing live… if an actor can do it, I’m pretty sure one of the most played mainstream recording artists can do it too. What a weak backbone.
My wife and I went to the movies today for the first time in forever (Step Brothers was the last movie we saw). Given that everyone has been talking about how good the movie Taken was, we went and watched it today. The movie was really good and we enjoyed ourselves. Unlike the last time we were at the cinema together, we actually got to see the entire movie this time! As for the movie, now that’s what I’m talking about. The main character didn’t waste time talking, he was about action. He was about getting his daughter back and the bad guys paid the price… many time with their disgusting lives.
The weekend is nearly over… I’m trying to stay up!
